Recipe: St. Patrick's Day Treats

In anticipation of St. Patrick's Day coming up on Sunday, I made some festive treats this week: Lucky Charms treats and GREEN chocolate chip cookies!

Lucky Charms Treats:

Ingredients:
-5 cups Lucky Charms cereal
-5 cups mini marshmallows (approximately one bag)
-4 tablespoons butter

Directions:
-Grease an 8x8 baking pan.
-Pour Lucky Charms in a large bowl and set aside.
-Melt butter on the stovetop on medium low heat. After butter has melted add in marshmallows and continue melting, stirring constantly.
-Once marshmallows have melted remove the mixture from the stove and pour onto the cereal. Using a spatula, stir cereal until evenly coated, then transfer to greased pan. Use spatula to evenly distribute towards edges of the pan and flatten.
-Let cool for at least 15 minutes then cut into squares.
Yum!

Green Chocolate Chip Cookies:

I simply followed the classic Nestle Toll House recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag. Except for this batch I actually used Ghiradelli chips since they are richer. Before adding chocolate chips into the dough, add green food coloring a few drops at a time until desired color is reached. Keep in mind that it will lighten some during baking.
Green dough!

Finished product!

Featured Outfit: Go Tar Heels!

In honor of March Madness starting so soon, I need to share an outfit that showcases my Tar Heel spirit. When UNC has a big game, I like to wear Carolina Blue even if I'm not going to the game. (Which is usually the case during basketball season since tickets are sooo hard to come by.) I wore this particular outfit this past Saturday, but unfortunately it didn't bring much luck during that painful game against Duke. I'm hoping my boys will have a chance to redeem themselves in the ACC Tournament this weekend. Nevertheless, it's still a great UNC game day outfit, regardless of the outcome!

AMAZING Spring Shoes via Target

Last week was new shoes galore for me! I finally invested in some Tory Burch tan Revas, but I also found some amazing budget-friendly shoes at Target. I bought a pair of the Merona Margeurite neutral canvas espradille wedges. I first saw these on Let's Be Preppy, one of my favorite blogs, and when I walked past them in Target I couldn't resist trying them on. They are so fun and a great way to add some diversity to your spring shoe collection without spending a lot of money. I am obsessed with the polka dots on the wedge's interior, even though nobody can see it while you are wearing them. This style is also available in black, red, and turquoise, but neutral is definitely the most practical. They will go with everything and can be worn for both work and going out. If you want multiple colors they are currently Buy One Get One 50% off online.

I also found another great style: the Merona Magee patent peep-toe pump. I originally bought the black patent peep-toes in store, but they didn't have the nude patent ones in my size. When I went to order the nude ones online I saw that the Magee was Buy One, Get One 50% off, so I ordered another pair of the black ones at a discount online and will return the pair I bought in-store. Since I don't wear heels as much, I don't like to invest in them the way I would Tory flats, Jack Rogers, or cowgirl boots. These Target patent peep-toe heels are so nice and classy, and cost a fraction of what you would pay for a similar pair at a boutique or department store. I got notification today that my order shipped, so hopefully they will arrive later this week. The Magee is also available in turquoise, and online exclusives navy, red, and cheetah.

Have y'all checked out Target's Spring shoe selection yet? What are your favorites?

Friday Five

1. Tory Burch Tan Reva Flats
I have been wanting a pair of tan Tory Burch Reva flats for months, and I finally treated myself to them as an early birthday present. I ordered them from toryburch.com and they arrived this week. Shipping was fast: I placed my order on Sunday night and they were on my doorstep late Wednesday afternoon. Also toryburch.com offers free shipping on all Reva flats, which is super nice! I know I will get a lot of wear out of these! In addition, they are more comfortable out of the box than my classic black TB Revas, probably because the tonal leather logo is softer than the medallion logo on my black ones.

2. Nestle Crunch Hearts
Since it's still been chilly outside lately, I have been saving the Easter candy I've bought for when it starts to feel more like spring soon. In the meantime, I have been enjoying some leftover Valentine's candy, like these adorable Nestle Crunch hearts.

3. Streams In The Desert Quote
I read this super encouraging quote in my Streams In The Desert Devotional this week and had to share it.

4. Homemade Pizza
Last night a friend and I made our own pizza with the refrigerated Pillsbury pizza dough. I had forgotten how delicious that stuff was for making homemade pizza!

On Tuesday my favorite author released her newest book, The Chance! I definitely went to Target and bought my copy the day it came out. I haven't started it yet but look forward to doing so this weekend. It is a love story set in Savannah and the main guy is a basketball player, so I know it will be good. What a perfect read for March!

Have a great weekend y'all and GO TAR HEELS!!!

Featured Outfit: Old Navy Sweater Dress

Here is another recent outfit I've worn that I wanted to be sure and post before it goes out of season, since Spring is almost here-thank goodness!!! I love this sweater dress I found at Old Navy this past fall. It fits me super well, and is classic and budget-friendly!

Featured Outfit: Printed Turtleneck

I wore this outfit last weekend. You many recall seeing this printed Lilly turtleneck in my Preppy & Professional post last week. One of the things I love about this top is that it is great with a pencil skirt for church or work, but also great with jeans for a casual but pulled-together look.
Top: Lilly Pulitzer (Fall 2010); Jeans: Joe's Jeans; Shoes: Tory Burch classic Reva flats; Earrings: Honora; Necklace: J.Crew outlet; Ring: Kate Spade

Close-up of the Lilly print of my turtleneck (Punch Pink It's Getting Hot In Here) and the J.Crew outlet elephant critter necklace I can't get enough of!

Friday Five

Happy Friday y'all!

1. It's March!
I am so happy it's March-which means warmer weather ahead, spring, Easter, college basketball galore, and my birthday!

2. Pink Elephant
This week I got to see a college friend I hadn't seen in nearly three years and meet her sweet baby girl for the first time! I got her baby this precious pink stuffed elephant with John 15:12 "Love One Another" written in a heart patch on the chest. As y'all know, I love elephants so was honestly quite tempted to keep this for myself!

3. Jesus Calling-One Day at a Time
This devotional from Jesus Calling was spot on what I needed to hear this week. We all have a tendency to have anxiety about the future. I find myself thinking about the "what-ifs" which most of the time turn out to be things that don't even become an issue, and I realize in retrospect that they were not worth wasting that much mental energy. This was such a sweet and encouraging reminder that God wants us to trust Him one day at a time and He will make our future clear to us as it unfolds step by step.

4. Barnum's Animal Crackers
I was reminded this week how much I love this classic snack!

5. College Basketball Highlights
-UNC gets revenge by beating NC State
-Yesterday (February 28) was Dean Smith's 82nd birthday and UNC beat Clemson while Duke lost to Virginia!

Have a great weekend y'all!
