Bargain Alert: Lilly Pulitzer on Rue La La

One of my favorite ways to get great clothes for a great price is through Rue La La, a members-only sale site. Each day features different designer boutiques, which open at 11:00am and remain open for 48 hours. Sale items are from past seasons, and are usually at least 50% off original retail prices. All merchandise is first-quality new with tags and in original packaging. I joined almost two years ago when I heard that Lilly Pulitzer was periodically available on Rue La La and ever since have gotten some great deals through this wonderful site. It can sometimes be a great way to find pieces from past Lilly seasons that you regret not buying originally. So far I have only purchased from the Lilly boutiques on Rue La La but other boutiques I have seen include Jack Rogers, Kate Spade, Ariat, and Honora Pearls. The best part about Rue La La is that it is FREE to join. You can click here for your personal invitation to join Rue La La. Lilly Pulitzer is available right now in the Palm Beach Style: Spring Brights boutique and there is still some great stuff left, including the shift dress I featured in this past week's Friday Favorites post. Happy Shopping!

Friday Favorites

Got this idea from For All Things Lovely, a fashion blog I've recently started following. I'm pretty sure I've seen other blogs do it as well, and I like it so it will be a regularly featured column on Colorful and Classy :) So here goes Edition 1:

Scarf:
Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf in Green Bean Amani Children's Foundation. I adore Lilly scarves and this might be my favorite that I own. This print is absolutely precious-I love the bright colors and and the adorable lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, and rhinos in the print. The silk/cashmere blend is lightweight enough that it can still be worn in the Spring before it gets too incredibly hot outside. But best of all this scarf was designed to benefit the Amani Children's Foundation, which I mentioned in my Shop For A Cause post several months ago. At first this scarf was only available at Palm Avenue Via shop locations but it is now available here on the Lilly website.

Shift Dress:
Lilly Pulitzer Jacqueline Dress Embroidered in Sea Breeze Blue. This is from the Spring 2011 collection. As much as I love my Lilly prints I love the classic look of this solid blue dress with white embroidery. The lining is a tangerine color and shows through the cut-outs in the embroidery which adds a nice touch. Whether a solid or print Lilly is all about the little details! This is a great dress for showers, parties, weddings, and luncheons.

Shorts:
J.Crew khaki chino short 5" inseam. These are a staple in my spring/summer wardrobe. I recommend getting them at the outlet-same shorts for a lower price. Currently available at the J.Crew Factory website if you don't live near an outlet.

Cocktail Dress:
Lilly Pulitzer Bowen Dress in Black After-Party Embroidery. From the Fall 2011 collection. The gold detail on the skirt is even prettier in person. I have worn it to a rehearsal dinner and an engagement party so far.

Bargain Buy:
Old Navy printed tank. Got this on sale a few months ago. Super cute and works great under a cardigan for work and alone with shorts or skinny jeans for outside of the office.

Jeans:
Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny Jeans in Satellite wash. I featured these in an earlier post but had to mention them again because they are my favorite pair of jeans. The Citizens of Humanity Facebook page recently pictured Miley Cyrus wearing these exact jeans-not sure if I should be flattered or not...regardless of your opinion of Miley Cyrus she does have good taste in jeans because these are so classy and comfortable! Dessert:
Self-serve frozen yogurt with toppings.

I hope that y'all have an absolutely lovely weekend!!! It's supposed to be gorgeous! Glad Spring weather is back!

AG Polka Dot Ankle Skinny. Available from Anthropologie

Old Navy Ruffled Button-Front Drawstring Cami. Currently on sale here for just $14!

Old Navy Pintucked Chiffon Top. Also currently on sale for $14.

Kate Spade Sonja Dress. Available here.

Outfit Spotlight

Hope y'all have had a good Monday! I've decided to include periodic posts with pictures of how I've pulled different outfits together. Here is a fave I wore during a recent Girls' Weekend:
This was the first time I wore this particular Shorely Blue Lilly Pulitzer Paley cardigan with this Lilly skirt. My white spaghetti strap underneath the cardigan is from LOFT. Their tanks are great for layering. I know my bag doesn't match the blue of my cardigan that well but a large Longchamp Le Pliage tote is great for a day out. Silver metallic Jack Rogers Navajos are a warm weather footwear staple! I'm wearing the Kate Spade pearl studs I mentioned in a previous post and then a classic pearl necklace by Honora. My Calvin Klein sunglasses came from TJ Maxx a couple years ago for a great price-I highly recommend TJ Maxx for sunglasses that are nice but don't break the bank!

That's it for tonight! Hope y'all enjoyed this featured outfit post and I will definitely do more in the future!

Seriously Seersucker!

So Easter Sunday was about two weeks ago. Of course the most important aspect of this holiday is the Resurrection of Jesus and the celebration of the hope and eternal life it brings. My second favorite thing about Easter is the fact that it marks the beginning of seersucker season! I am a stickler on the "no seersucker, white, or linen before Easter or after Labor Day" rule. Thus, it makes me happy that starting on Easter I can reintroduce seersucker into my wardrobe after 6-7 months of hibernation in my closet.

I was excited to wear my new Lilly seersucker dress to church on Easter Sunday. I fell in love with this dress the moment I tried it on and was very happy my wonderful parents got it for me as a birthday present. This shift-style dress is super flattering and fits the contours of the body perfectly without being too tight or restraining. And the ruffles at the neckline are absolutely precious!

Then after I got home from church I changed into my Lilly seersucker shorts. It was definitely nice to be able to wear them again!

Here is another seersucker delight I'm loving this season:

J.Crew outlet seersucker mini
I found this for 40% off on a recent outlet visit and couldn't pass it up. I look forward to wearing it all spring and summer and it will be especially adorable for the 4th of July! It is currently available on the J.Crew Factory website and at J.Crew outlet stores.

The remaining seersucker items are not part of my closet at this time but I love them nonetheless:

Lilly Pulitzer Blossom Dress in Worth Blue Sweet Little Lady Embroidery.
I am absolutely loving this strapless seersucker dress from one of the most recent shipments of the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2012 collection! It is most definitely on my wish list! I adore all the details: pink piping, pockets, and precious embroidered lady bugs. This screams SUMMER!

Lilly Pulitzer also produced this lovely embroidered seersucker print in:

&

Lilly Pulitzer Jarvey Skort in Starfruit Yellow Horse Show Embroidery
Another great seersucker piece from the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2012 collection. I love the ric-rac detail! Plus Lilly skorts are great because they have the appearance of a mini-skirt but have built-in bloomers underneath.

Lilly Pulitzer Buttercup Short in Hotty Pink Lucky Seersucker.
These seersucker shorts from the Lilly Spring 2012 line also come in light blue and white. I love the scalloped hem!

Lilly Pulitzer Opening Night Clutch
While I don't think I would actually use this seersucker clutch enough to justify ever purchasing I still think it's sooo cute and a wonderful way for Lilly to incorporate seersucker into their Spring 2012 accessory line.

Vineyard Vines Sashay Carolyn Dress in Multi Patchwork Seersucker
A classic strapless seersucker dress from Vineyard Vines. Perfect for church, an afternoon summer wedding, backyard BBQ and cookouts, or just a day or night out on the town!

Vineyard Vines Seersucker Skirt
I love the bow and buttons on this adorable seersucker skirt from Vineyard Vines. It also comes in pink and camel.

Seersucker is a staple in a spring/summer wardrobe in the South and I plan to get as much wear as possible out of my favorite pieces between now and Labor Day. Hope y'all do the same!
What are your favorite seersucker pieces from this season or faithful standbys from previous seasons? Are you a stickler on seasonally appropriate fashion rules as well? I'd love to hear thoughts from y'all!

Earrings Extravaganza!

I love earrings! They add an extra bit of pizzazz to an already great outfit! For some reason I put off getting my ears pierced until a couple years after I graduated from college, which is hard to believe! I've had my ears pierced for a little bit over two years now, but it feels like I've had them done forever, since earrings are such an essential part of every outfit. For awhile I mostly wore small freshwater pearl studs in an assortment of colors and some medium faux pearl studs. Although I still wear these occasionally, I wear bigger stud earrings much more often now. My jewelry box is not overflowing with tons of different earrings but rather I have a few faithful favorite pairs that I alternate depending on my outfit and my mood.

Introducing my faithful faves:

Kate Spade Putting On The Ritz studs. These beauties were a wedding party gift from my lovely cousin this past December. They were gorgeous to wear with our attendant dresses and I have worn them many times since the wedding. They add instant sparkle to any outfit and work for less formal occasions as well!

Lilly Pulitzer Lilly's Pink Cherry Blossom Critter Earrings. This is the first piece of Lilly jewelry I have gotten. These are both fun and simple and complement lots of outfits, plus they come with a printed Lilly Pulitzer drawstring jewelry bag. From the Spring 2012 collection.

Kate Spade Metropolitan Pearl Stud earrings. I snagged these large faux pearl studs from the Kate Spade online sample sale a couple months ago and they are now my favorite earrings! They go with everything and the small jewel detail at the base adds a nice additional touch. A perfectly preppy staple!

Now here a few other fun pairs of stud earrings that do not currently reside in my jewelry box-maybe someday!

Lilly Pulitzer True Blue Navy Buzz Critter Earrings. From the Spring 2012 collection.

Kate Spade Flo Pink Gumdrop studs.

Lilly Pulitzer Critter Earrings in Jewel Green Hop To It. From the Resort 2011 Collection.

Kate Spade Mom's The Word Daisy Studs

And now you know what earrings I'm loving right now! As you can see, Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer are the overwhelming favorites, because they are two high quality, girly brands I love. But go out and find whatever works for you!
