Pink Friday Featured Outfit

On Black Friday (better known as Colorful Friday by Lilly Pulitzer) I was browsing in a Lilly store and they already had their PINK Christmas tree set up. It made me really happy and my outfit matched!

Friday Favorites

My apologies for being slack on posting lately. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and stayed safe and sane if you ventured out on Black Friday. Here are this week's Friday Favorites:
Lip Balm:
Softlips Watermelon flavor
I've used Softlips products before and really liked them, and I love anything watermelon flavored. So when I saw this new watermelon Softlips lip balm at Target I had to try it, and I was not disappointed. This lip balm has SPF 20 and protects against dry, chapped lips.

Fall Treat:
Orange KitKat
In the weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving I enjoyed snacking on discounted candy, like these delicious white chocolate flavored, orange colored KitKats.

Bargain Buy:
Beyond Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury
I was able to add this KK book to my collection for only 25 cents at a used bookstore sale! It made me very happy.

Dress:
Old Navy Printed Tunic Shift Dress
As much as I love my Lilly dresses I have also been able to find some cute dresses lately at Old Navy for a great price, like this printed dress. It works well with tights and boots so can be worn all through fall and winter.

Jeans:
Joe's Jeans The Skinny
I recently got a great new pair of high-waisted skinny jeans at the Joe's Jeans outlet and absolutely love them!

Hope y'all enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend!

Tailgate Treats

I know football tailgate season is winding down, but if you're looking for a quick, easy dessert to take to a remaining tailgate this year look no further! A few weeks ago I went to a tailgate and made some delicious no-bake cookies & cream treats and Golden Grahams treats.

The Cookies & Cream treats came from Pinterest and the original recipe can be found here. It is super easy and only requires three ingredients: crushed Oreos, butter, and marshmallows.
Yum!

Here are the directions for the Golden Grahams treats. I modified a Cinnamon Toast Crunch treats recipe from another blog. I would link to it but it has been removed.

Ingredients:
4 cups mini marshmallows
5 tablespoons butter
5 cups Golden Grahams cereal
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Measure out cereal and chocolate chips in bowl together. Measure out mini marshmallows and set aside.
2. In large saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Once butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows. Stir marshmallows until they're melted.
3. Remove saucepan from heat and use a spatula to transfer the marshmallow/butter mixture to the bowl with the cereal and chocolate chips. Stir to completely coat cereal with marshmallow mixture.
4. Pour cereal mixture into greased 8x8 pan. Evenly spread out and pat down with spatula. Let cool, then cut into squares and enjoy.
*Note-next time I make these I might try adding the chocolate chips after I have coated cereal with marshmallow/butter mixture so that they don't melt as much. But they were still a big hit following the directions above.
Delicious!

Of course these are great for occasions besides a tailgate. They are perfect anytime you need a quick, easy, delicious dessert to take somewhere!

Happy Birthday Lilly Pulitzer!

Yesterday (November 10) was Lilly Pulitzer's birthday! I never need an excuse to wear Lilly, but I commemorated the birthday of my favorite fashion icon by wearing a Lilly button-down shirt and Lilly cherry blossom cocktail ring to tailgate at the UNC game.
This shirt is actually the first Lilly clothing item I ever bought. The print is Worth Blue Little Master of the House (from Fall 2009) and is a combination of paisley and leopards. Of course I love the pink cuffs on the sleeves too! I finished off the outfit with my Citizens of Humanity Avedon skinny jeans and Ariat Classic Heritage R-toe cowgirl boots. And I accessorized with pearls of course-my UNC Spirit Pearls and Kate Spade Metropolitan Pearl Studs! I also wore my Lilly Pulitzer Beachy perfume.

What did y'all wear to celebrate Lilly's birthday?

Turtleneck Time

I know some people aren't a fan of turtlenecks, but I happen to like them. J.Crew's tissue turtleneck is a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe. It is so soft and comfortable, and I have multiple solid colors. I don't have any of the striped ones at this point but think they are super cute. You can usually find the turtleneck at the J.Crew outlet for a lower price (and get more colors for less money.) The solids look great with a Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf in complementary colors.

What are your thoughts on turtlenecks? Love 'em or leave 'em?

Halloween Hoopla

First of all, Happy Election Day! I'm thankful to live in a country where we have the freedom to vote for our leaders.
Next, I want to share some Halloween pictures from last Wednesday. I had a low-key but fun Halloween. One of my good friends came over and we handed out candy to trick-or-treaters. I dressed up as Minnie Mouse. I couldn't find any mouse ears so I attempted to make my own. However, the Minnie ears I've had since I was 4 were much cuter although highly uncomfortable, so I ended up wearing them and taking them on and off throughout the night.
Minnie Mouse!

And then the day after Halloween I took advantage of discounted candy at Target:
Luckily I have plenty of people who will help eat all of this!

What did y'all do for Halloween? Did you dress up?

Lilly Pulitzer Resort 2012

Lilly Pulitzer has released the first shipment of their Resort 2012 collection online and in stores! There is some great stuff! I know there was criticism of the Fall collection among Lilly lovers who felt it strayed too far from traditional Lilly. (I personally didn't mind the Fall collection because I feel that it's a great way to still wear Lilly in a seasonally appropriate way.) The Resort collection seems to have more of the prints and such you would typically expect from Lilly. Here is what I'm especially loving:
Y'all know I'm a fan of lace so it's no surprise I love this dress. I also adore the scalloped hem and the lagoon green color is absolutely gorgeous.

I think I like the pink and yellow color combination best, but all of these striped sweaters are so classic and pretty.

I love the gorgeous pink color, sash, and gold detail at the hem and bottom of the sleeves.

This down vest looks so cozy and I love the pink salmon color. In typical Lilly style it has a printed lining.

Cassie Dress in Shorely Blue A Little Leg
I love this fun flamingo print-I have both a planner and a koozie in it.

I love Lilly jewelry and these earrings are absolutely precious! The gold bows are perfect for the holiday season and they would go with everything.

Carded ID Wristlet in Shorely Blue A Little Leg
The carded ID wristlet comes in the amazing flamingo print too. I think this will be on my Christmas list this year!

What do y'all think of Lilly's Resort 2012 collection? What are your favorite pieces?

Friday Favorites

Hope y'all had a fun Halloween. I can't believe it's already November and Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away! Here's the latest installment of Friday Favorites. Have a great weekend!

Loungewear:
Old Navy Minnie Mouse Sleep Bottoms
I found these pajama bottoms during an Old Navy sale last week. They are so comfy and I love all things Minnie Mouse!

Foundation:
Cover Girl Clean Oil Control Liquid Makeup
I decided to try out this foundation and have been pleased so far. This smoothes out my skin tone with lightweight and natural looking coverage. I used shade Medium Light 535 and it blends super well.

Top:
Lilly Pulitzer Tess Turtleneck (from Fall 2010)
I really wish Lilly would make more printed turtlenecks like they did a couple years ago. This is perfect to wear throughout fall and winter.

Breakfast Food:
Market Pantry Target brand Chocolate Fudge-Filled Cereal Bars
I found these at Target recently and decided to give them a try. They are amazing and actually have a fair amount of fiber and nutrients. I highly recommend these for a quick delicious breakfast on the go.

Funny:
From someecards. This describes my conversations with my best friend about Karen Kingsbury characters.
