Snow Day Recap

Since the first official day of Spring is tomorrow, I figured I would close out winter by showing a few pics from the massive NC snow we had a few weeks ago. The highlight was making a Southern Proper snowman with one of my friends who lives closely.

Southern Proper snowman! Also, if you look really closely you can see I brought some brightness to a snowy day by wearing my Hotty Pink First Impression Lilly sunnies!

Snow falling at midnight on February 26, 2015. Though it was so cool how my iPhone made it look like it was the middle of the day!

The snow was so pretty but I am so ready for Spring!

Featured Outfit: Go Tigers!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I attended the Clemson-NC State baseball series in Raleigh this past weekend. The Friday game was cold (temps in upper 30's) the Saturday game was significantly warmer (temps in mid 50's), and the Sunday game was even warmer (temps in upper 60's). I took advantage of the spring-like weather on Sunday and wore my orange Lilly Pulitzer Cassie dress sans tights. My South Carolina Murfee scarf made an appearance in this ensemble as well. The print has some orange in it, so I really like how it looks with a solid orange dress. It was a beautiful day to be outside cheering on my Tigers. I definitely got some sun!

Friday Five

Happy Friday y'all. I'm linking up with A. Liz Adventures again this week and sharing a few things I'm loving! I can't believe it's March already!

1. Lauren James "Fourth & Goal" Sweet Tee

I'm showing off another one of my long-sleeved Lauren James Sweet Tees I got during her birthday sale. Since spring football practice began this week, I figured this "Fourth & Goal" design was very appropriate.

2. Clemson Baseball Game

One of my dearest friends, who is like a mom to me, has a son on the Clemson baseball team. They are in Raleigh this weekend for a three game series against NC State. I got to catch the last few innings of the game today and saw the Tigers get a 6-4 victory and plan to go to the games on Saturday and Sunday as well. I wore my Lilly Pulitzer South Carolina Murfee scarf for the game on Friday, since it has a little bit of orange in the print. Also, I conveniently had a "Beat NC State" sticker left over from when I went to the Clemson-NC State football game back in the fall. It was fun gathering together some accessories to turn NC State orange. Go Tigers!

3. Poolside Lunch
We had a teaser of spring in North Carolina on Wednesday of this week, so I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and ate my lunch outside by the pool! Can't wait for this to be an everyday occurrence.

4. Orange Tory Burch Crossbody

Back in the fall I found this great orange nylon Tory Burch cross body at a consignment shop. It's great to take to Clemson baseball games (like this weekend!) and tailgates, as well as any place you want to take a smaller purse but don't necessarily want to carry a leather one. As you can see, it has an interior zip pocket, two interior open pockets, as well as an exterior zip compartment and an exterior open pocket. It easily holds my essentials and is a fun addition to my purse collection! I have used it a lot over the past several months.

5. It's March
I also get excited whenever the calendar turns to March. While the beginning of the month is still a bit chilly, I know that spring is just around the corner! The college basketball fanatic in me can't wait for March Madness. Two weeks from now is the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, which is one of my favorite weekends of the year, since there is pretty much non-stop college basketball on TV for four days straight. My birthday is also this month, and even though I don't particularly care for the getting a year older part, I do enjoy a chance to gather with friends and celebrate.

Featured Outfit: I Love South Carolina

I have lived the majority of my life in North Carolina, and love so many things about the Tar Heel State. However, I went to college in South Carolina, and also lived there for a little less than three years as a post-college 20-something. As much as I enjoy life in NC, I miss SC very much and go back frequently to visit some of my dearest friends. When Lilly first introduced the Murfee scarves in six different state prints back in Fall 2012, I asked for the North Carolina one for Christmas. However, last summer I decided I needed the South Carolina Murfee too, because the print kept becoming more and more beautiful to me, and I realized more and more how much my time living in South Carolina shaped me as a person. I bought the SC Murfee in August 2014 when Lilly did a gift with purchase promotion. Here's how I styled it when I wore it to church about a month ago. It was an unseasonably warm February day, so I didn't need tights.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer Cassie Dress; Scarf: Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf in South Carolina print; Shoes: Tory Burch Silver Reva Flats; Earrings: Sheila Fajl Jewelry Everybody's Favorite Hoop; Watch: Michael Kors

I also like how the SC print has some orange in it, which would look great with an orange top to support my Clemson Tigers! I'm a lifelong UNC Tar Heels fan, but have grown to love Clemson too, thanks to a dear friend who I met in SC who is a hard core Clemson fan!

Featured Outfit: Escapade in the Everglades

I got the Lilly Pulitzer Corrine Dress in "Escape in the Everglades" for a great deal from my favorite Lilly signature store during the After Party Sale at the beginning of the year. I wore it to church several weeks ago and "winterized" it with a down puffer vest, brown tights, and boots. This is a great dress because it can easily be "winterized" since the print isn't overly summery. It will also be a great transitional piece for early spring days where it's warm enough to ditch the tights but still cool enough for long sleeves. Here's how I styled it earlier in the winter:

Outfit Details:
Dress: Lilly Pulitzer; Vest: L.L. Bean; Tights: Merona for Target; Boots: Ariat Heritage Western R-toe boots; Earrings: Sheila Fajl Jewelry; Bracelet: Lily and Laura; Pearls: Honora; Watch: Michael Kors

Featured Outfit: Peppermint Stripes

I am way behind on winter Featured Outfit posts. Winter is almost over, thank goodness! As much as I dislike the cold weather, I still manage to put together some ensembles that I enjoy wearing. I wore the following back in December 2014, when I visited one of my best friends for a weekend of Christmas-y fun. This striped sweater was great to wear during the Christmas season because the pink and green stripes made me feel like a piece of peppermint candy. Depending on the weather, it could also be a great top for St. Patrick's Day in a couple weeks.

Outfit Details:
Top: Lilly Pulitzer Maria Sweater; Jeans: Joe's; Shoes: Tory Burch Silver Reva Flats, Necklace: Lilly Pultizer Goodie Goodie Necklace; Earrings: Sheila Fajl "Everybody's Favorite Hoop"; Watch: Michael Kors; Bracelets: Kate Spade Idiom bangles

Friday Five

Happy Friday! It's been another week of crazy winter weather in the South. I am linking up again with A. Liz Adventures for another Friday Five. Here are a few things I'm loving this week:
1. Southern Snow
This past Wednesday night it snowed several inches, which is A LOT for central North Carolina. I am not a fan of cold weather and winter, but I enjoy a rare event like this! The snow started a little after 9:00pm and just kept coming down. I enjoyed watching it fall and was so excited I didn't go to bed until almost 3:00am! This picture was taking from my balcony at around 12:30am, but it looks like daytime because the sky is so white and there is illumination from street lights. I had a snow day from work on Thursday. Stay tuned for a snow day recap post!

2. Lilly Pulitzer Madeline Sunglasses
I bought these fun Lilly Pulitzer sunglasses in the Hotty Pink First Impression print back in the fall and have worn them a lot over the past couple weeks. They provide a pop of brightness to this frigid winter weather we have been experiencing in NC lately.

3. South Carolina Pendant Necklace
I'm a North Carolina girl, but South Carolina holds a special place in my heart. The Palmetto State is my other home, since I went to college there, lived there for a few years post-college, and have dear friends who live there whom I frequently visit. I have a North Carolina pendant necklace like this, but recently decided I needed the South Carolina one too. I ordered mine from Lydia Lister Jewelry. I met Lydia through my former Bible Study leader who is a second mom to me. She is so sweet and has awesome customer service. Lydia sells multiple brands of jewelry, and many of the pieces she carries are under $30! Check out her website as well as her Instagram (@lydialisterjewelry). She will often post pieces on Instagram before they are available on her website, so I encourage following her!

4. Kate Spade Mug

I found this adorable pink Kate Spade mug at my TJ Maxx right before Thanksgiving. It has gotten a lot of use over the past week or so as the snow and frigid temperatures have increased my hot chocolate consumption!

5. Lauren James ASAP Sweet Tee

I want to show off another one of the super comfy long-sleeved Sweet Tees I got from the big Lauren James sales a few weeks ago. The coral color is very pretty, and I love the As Southern As Possible design on the back.

Hope y'all have a great weekend. Hang in there- just a few more weeks until spring!

Wish List Wednesday

It's been awhile since I've posted a Wish List Wednesday, so I figured I would do one right now while the snow is coming down outside. I gave up shopping for Lent, so anything I want right now has to go on my wish list rather than in my closet. The good news is my birthday is coming up at the end of March, so I might get some of these before Easter. Here are a few pretties I have my eyes on:

Lilly Pulitzer Mila Shift in Yellow First Impression
Lilly's popular Hotty Pink First Impression print from Spring 2011 is back for Spring 2015, in a gorgeous yellow color way. This beauty is on my birthday list and I am hoping to get it and wear it for Easter!

Lauren James Orange Scalloped Seersucker Skirt
This orange seersucker skirt from Lauren James, my favorite up and coming preppy designer, is also on my birthday list. It will be perfect to wear to a Clemson baseball game this spring (after Easter of course)! Lilly has never done orange seersucker that as far as I know, so I love that Lauren James has this option. The scalloped hem is adorable, and the price tag of $58 is excellent!

Lauren James Carolina Blue Sunnies
I am quite the sunglasses junky, and definitely don't need another pair! However, I'm still eying these light blue Lauren James sunglasses with polarized lenses. The blue is a close match to Carolina blue and would be adorable for UNC games!

Lilly Pulitzer Lion In The Sun Buttercup Shorts
These are my favorite pair of shorts from the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2015 collection. I love the color, which is also close to Carolina blue, and I love any Lilly print that incorporates members of the cat family. I have several pairs of Callahan shorts, but none of the scalloped buttercup style, so this would be a nice addition to my collection!

What is on your wish list?

Friday Five

Happy Friday! Hope y'all have stayed warm this week. These FRIGID temperatures have reminded me that I could never live someplace where this type of winter weather is the norm rather than the exception. I'm your stereotypical thin-blooded Souther wimp. Ha! I'm linking up with A. Liz Adventures and company again for Five on Friday.
1. Kate Spade Lemon Print Scarf

I became obsessed with this Kate Spade lemon print when it came out last spring. Last week I found this beautiful scarf at my TJ Maxx for nearly 70% off suggested retail! The pretty lemon print caught my eye, and when I took the scarf off the rack I realized it was THE Kate Spade lemon print. The yellow tassels add a lovely touch and I absolutely couldn't pass this beauty up.  I was able to buy the lemon pendant necklace on sale last summer, and was super excited to add the scarf to my collection too!

2. Valentine's Goodie Overload

One of my closest friends has a Valentine's Day birthday, so another friend and I threw her a little party last weekend. Our night included a smorgasbord of Valentine's sweets: conversation hearts, m&m pretzels, Red Velvet Oreos, red jelly beans, Dove hearts, cupcakes, and more!

3. Kate Spade Outlet Sale
I have decided to give up shopping for Lent, but last weekend I had a last hurrah at the Kate Spade outlet on my way home from a weekend trip to visit friends. They were having a HUGE sale: 50% off everything in the store, plus an additional 20% of clearance. I snagged these two beauties- the blue Wellesley Byrd was in the clearance section! It will be great for going out and for weddings and parties. The hot pink is nylon. I like having nylon handbags in my collection because I don't like to carry leather bags when it's raining. I like this Kate Spade nylon tote better than my Longchamp Le Pliage totes because it has an interior zipper pocket plus two interior open pockets, making it easier to organize my stuff.

4. Starbucks Muffin for 27 cents
I forgot to take a picture before I ate half of it, but I was happy to get a Starbucks blueberry yogurt muffin for just 27 cents last week. I had a $2 off any food item offer on my Gold card, so that's how I got a practically free muffin. It also didn't hurt that I got a star to go towards my Lucky Dozen rewards with this purchase! Sometimes it's just the simple things in life that make my day!

5. Sweet Sayings m&m's
I was really happy to get these pretty pink and green m&m's with cutesy sayings on them from my mom for Valentine's Day. Once again, it's the little things!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Friday Five

I'm back with another Friday Five this week! I'm linking up with A.Liz Adventures and friends once again. Here's what I'm loving this week:
1. Lauren James Sweet Tee Collection

I had seen these adorable preppy tees by Lauren James, and up and coming preppy designer, at a store in South Carolina. When Lauren James had a big 40% off birthday sale on her website recently, I took advantage and ordered a couple long-sleeved tees. I needed some more super casual and comfy clothes that were also cute and preppy. Lauren James' Sweet Tee collection fits the bill perfectly. They are seriously the softest and most comfortable tees I have ever worn, and the preppy designs on the back are absolutely precious. The front of all the LJ Sweet Tees have a pocket with the company logo. This Prep In Your Step Sweet Tee is one that I ordered. I loved the first two that I ordered so much that I went back and ordered several more while the sale was still going on. Have to stock up!

2. Lauren James Land O' The Pines Koozie
Lauren James was sweet enough to throw this precious preppy North Carolina koozie in with my order too! You can get yours here.

3. Tahari Tobie Knit Top
I found this super comfy Tahari knit top in the clearance section at TJ Maxx this week. Since it's neutral colors, the accessorizing options are endless.

4. Tory Burch In Color
I highly recommend Tory Burch's first-ever coffee table book, In Color. It is absolutely gorgeous and is a great addition to my living room!

5. Super Bowl Shenanigans
I had a blast hosting a handful of friends to watch the Super Bowl this past Sunday. We had a delicious spread and enjoyed the game, commercials, halftime show, and a broad range of conversation topics!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!
